Internal linking tips for blogs

While it is very important for the search engines to see outside links coming into your blog, you might also consider building an effective internal linking strategy also. Why is this important? It encourages visitors to stay on your blog longer, thus increasing page views, thus improving your search engine rankings. And if you have any products you are promoting, you will more likely to get some interested clicks.

Creating A User Friendly Blog

Have a Sitemap

This is not just a suggestion, it is a requirement. Google will downgrade your site if you don't have a sitemap.

While most of your visitors won't bother with going through your sitemap, they can help people find the specific information what they are looking for if it's not readily apparent and they do show the search engines the internal linking strategy for your blog postings

Include Links To Related Posts

By including links to related posts- in your posts - you can help your readers to easily locate similar content that may interest them. It will also help to increase the number of internal links within your blog.

Now you can do this manually, but if you have quite a bit of posts this can take some time, or, here are two plugins for you to play around with.

Free Plugins

Here are two highly recommended site map plugins for WordPress.

1. XML sitemaps created specifically for the search engines: wordpress.org/extend/plugins/google-sitemap-generator/
2. The Dagon Design Sitemap, created more for your visitors: dagondesign.com/articles/sitemap-generator-plugin-for-wordpress/

Related Posts Plugins

1. Related Entries Plugin: wasabi.pbworks.com/RelatedEntries
2. The alinks plugin: headzoo.com/alinks. (this is also a very good plugin if you are using affiliate links)

Include Links To Your Most Popular Posts

On many blogs you will see a list of their most popular posts in the sidebar. You can do this manually or try using this free plug in. Most Wanted Plugin: boakes.org/most-wanted/.

The advantages to using the plugin is that it will change the popular posts automatically , otherwise you will have to do updates manually.

Other Quick Tips For an Internal Linking Strategy

Create a Series Of Articles

This works quite well if you are writing an in depth article. Simply break it down into small readable bites, and then link the series together

Place links on your 404 pages.

Your visitor will feel less frustrated and you can redirect them easily

Include Links in your Footer

Get Creative here. If a visitor has taken the time to scroll all the way to the bottom of your blog, why not offer them something. Kinda like the 'easter egg' placed in many dvd's.

Have a FAQ

A Frequently Asked Questions pages can help you to get internal links to your pages while also providing information for your visitors. Consider using your targeted keyword phrases here.

Put Together a Monthly Summary Of Your Blog.

If you are posting many stories daily maybe provide a weekly summary. Just a line having a brief teaser description and the link

Hot Tip:

Try including a link or two in the first paragraphs of your post. Some bloggers have reported a higher click through rate. See if this works for you.

When working on the internal linking strategy for your blog, think creatively, and be sure that it does not seem to your reader that you are forcing them to make clicks.

Why blogger is better than wordpress

We all know that blogger and wordpress are the biggest and the best blogging platforms in the blogging world. But even i am walking in the side of blogger with a great excitement of the new unique features and so on.

I am not shy to say that, the best feature of blogger.com which made it different from other sites is the option of adding "HTML/java script" widget. Frankly i can't have a blog without adding my own widgets which will only support HTML and java script.
Thus i choose blogger!

Many people has selected blogger.com as the best ever because of their own reasons like mine.
Another great feature of blogger is the easiness in editing and modifying the template.

And now i would like to say the most effective thing which makes all people attracts towards blogger: The ultimate " search engine optimization ".
We can find that a blog that registered under blogger easily appears on top of search engine results. This feature helps to get more targeted visitors to your blog.

Oh! sorry. Don't feel that i am avoiding wordpress. Millions of people use wordpress because of its unique features.
I can't end this post without saying the best feature of wordpress: " link hover snapshot "

At last i would like to remind you:

" If you are a new blogger, please choose blogger.com instead of wordpress.com which may work effective for your work "

Disclaimer: These are the thoughts in my experiences and i am just putting it in front of you. There are a lot of other features for blogger.com and wordpress.com. If you feel any problem in my content, please comment it over here.

what is the need of blogging?

Blogging may be something you have heard so much about but have not paid much attention to because maybe you find it boring and Some people are even afraid of showing their ignorance and do not want to ask what a blog is.

So What are blogs?

Blogs are simply web logs that are regularly updated, some even daily by a blogger. They consist of information that is related to a certain topic. In some cases, blogs are used as daily diaries about people's personal lives, political views and commentaries too.

Simply put this way, blogs can be made into topics whatever the author want them to be.

What is the history origin of blogging?

Blogs can be traced back in the 1990’s. but till now Who started them is not known. Although it started during that time, it was in the year 1999 that people got into blogging.

The first blogs were just personal commentaries and mostly web tours. It is ironic that these blogs were initially thought of as diaries or journals online made by the blogger. But now, they have already turned their blogs topic into the latest web content that is being done by just about anyone who wish to become blogger.

What is the importance of blogging?

For the individuals, blogging is a trendy and classy thing to do. You get to write what you want, add some pictures into it and put links that are related and useful to the message you are writing about. Sharing it to your friends.
But for businessman or internet marketer, they found blogs to be the answer to getting back the customers that they used to have by presenting them with new and fresh contents not seen anywhere else. Thus, blogging is one of their startegies to promote and maintain their business

It is a fact that content is very important for an online business or internet marketer who runs online business. Not only because they are the ones being found by search engines for site optimization, but also they give visitors a reason to come back to get more information.

What are some types of blogs?

1. The professional blogs. These kinds of blogs allow businesses to tell their customers or potential customers about the latest news or updates in their industry. This is also where they can catch up on the development being done in their business and also they try to make them subscribe on something to make sure they maximise thier chances on having their e-mail address to stay in touch with them.

These blogs are updated daily to be able to increase the chance of search engine to spider them. This also increases the page rank of a certain site because they are submitted to blogging directories.

2. Personal blogs. Just about anyone can write this kind of blog. This is where people get to share their ideas, thoughts and everything else they want other people to read about. Some of these blogs are not into page ranks and search engine optimization due to not keyword targeted because they may be just for fun or informational purposes.
What is the most widely used type of blogging?

The most widely used blogs are the business blogs. It seems that companies and businesses have already realized or discovered the benefits they can gain from blogging and is making them a substantial part of their business growth.

To use blogs for business purposes, you first have to know how it can benefit you and what is your objectives. It would be best if you design or write a schedule made and try to stick with it. Let your readers know what your blogs are all about and when to expect them.

Blogs can give valuable supplemental content and attention to areas of businesses that you want to highlight your business whether it is online or established companies.

What are the things needed in creating a blog?

Making blogs are as easy as typing an email. In blog service such as blogspot all you need is to put in the content and send it to the web server. Once done, it is directly printed on your page and displayed there for an amount of time.

If you are keen to learn how to make a niche blog that will maximise your chances of getting blog traffic or If you want me to guide you step by step and give you tips and strategies in blog marketing for free please do not hesitate to visit my blog at http://increaseblogtrafficdirectory.blogspot.com.

Latest Blog Post Ideas

Social Media Web Sites: Social media web sites are a great place to come up with new blog post ideas since what’s popular is usually very interesting! You could spend hours and hours trolling sites like digg.com and del.icio.us for new content - but I prefer sites like popurls.com that aggregate the top stories
from all the social media outlets, in addition to video and traditional news sources.

RSS Readers: If you subscribe to a hundred of your favorite feeds in Google Reader or bloglines.com - then it’s not hard to get post ideas in a jiffy each and every day.
Groups: I haven’t used newsgroups in years, but something that’s still alive are the email based “list” type groups. The major ones are at Google Groups, and Yahoo Groups. Just search for a group with a topic or interest you might like, such as gardening, jokes, crafts, auto repair, etc. Sign up for the group, and once you start getting posts you’ll start getting ideas!

Magazines and Catalogs: I get a lot of post ideas from snail mail believe it or not. I have blogs in topics I have interests in like technology, gadgets, and music. I get catalogs and magazines in the mail like guitar magazines, CompUSA catalogs, and even newspaper ads from Best Buy and Radio Shack. If something catches my eye - I blog about it. I purposely sign up for free catalogs in the same interests as my blogs to have a constant stream of potential ideas. I stack them up at the edge of my desk and go through them whenever I need to.

Ask for Guest Posters: Some of the most successful blogs are run and owned by multiple authors. If you are in need of new ideas and quality content, why not solicit guest authors? Add a form to your site and specifically ask for new ideas and guest posters. You could even contact your favorite blog authors and outright ask them to guest post on your site!

Automating the Blogging Process
I am a HUGE procrastinator, and I’m easily distracted and I have really, REALLY bad Attention Deficit Disorder, and I’m a bit Obsessive Compulsive as well. Automating some of the blogging process has really helped me to make sure that I get some work done in an organized fashion each and every day.
Datafeedr: Datafeedr is a both an affiliate service and Wordpress plugin you can purchase to create affiliate stores in Wordpress. I write about this in great detail in my article series “How to Create an Affiliate Store in Wordpress“. One of the features I love in datafeedr is “product dripping”. When you create an affiliate store with hundreds of products you an create posts automatically each day and have them auto-publish or “drip” to the homepage. This forces me to go back each day and re-write the dripped posts with better titles and some original content every day - and is a great way to jumpstart blog posting. Read more about product dripping here.

Write Multiple Posts and Schedule Days in Advance: Not a day goes by that I don’t get some sort of blog post idea. Once you get in the habit of writing these down, you’ll also start writing draft posts days ahead. This can be as simple as just writing a title and a sentence or two and saving the post as a draft, or actually writing multiple posts (alone or in a series) days ahead and scheduling them to post automatically in the future. The new scheduling feature of Wordpress is awesome!

Automatically Schedule and Reuse Old Posts: I’ve written about this before, but the Scheduled Post Plugin by Dagon Design is one of my favorites! Basically it takes the oldest post in your blog and changes the timestamp to today and rotates it to the top spot on your homepage! On my blogs where I have hundreds of posts (especially the ones I don’t write a lot for anymore) - I rotate the posts and recycle them. This also forces me to check them out on a daily basis and make sure that they aren’t outdated and don’t need rewriting. This works especially well on sites that have content like jokes, recipes, or content that never really gets old. It also gives me a second chance to look them over and make sure there isn’t a new or better way to re-monetize them. This helps me to reuse all my old content AND keep the old posts fresh, clean - AND making money!

Microblogging - The next email

There's no doubt about it: 2009 is the year Twitter broke. But what's the point of microblogging and how can it help your business?

You know something’s hit the mainstream when Phillip Schofield mentions it on This Morning. But Twitter’s apparent overnight success took the best part of three years.

A prototype of the microblogging and social networking tool was built in two weeks in March 2006 and was launched publicly that August. A programmer called Jack Dorsey came up with the idea when he was writing software that provided realtime status updates for taxi companies. Twitter eventually became a company in May 2007. It’s estimated that over 1.78 million people are now signed up to the service, compared to just 100,000 a year ago. The company last year turned down a $500 million buyout offer from Facebook.

Its genius is in its simplicity. Users are able to publish messages of 140 characters or less via the web or mobile phones. Collectively, these form a microblog, such at this one from Zeta. Messages - or ‘tweets’ - are read by ‘followers’, who subscribe to your posts and have them delivered to their own Twitter homepage.

The result is a stream of updates on everything from what someone’s doing for lunch to the fact that they’ve just been elected US president.

Twitter may be the best-known microblogging tool but it’s far from being the only one. Facebook’s status updates and wall posts make unwitting microbloggers out of its users. Its recent redesign was a direct response to the growth of Twitter.

Tumblelogs such as tumblr and Soup extend the short-form format to include multimedia content. YonklyJaiku offers an open source take on the genre. Plurk provides a quirky, timeline-based aesthetic. And Yammer, which won last year’s TechCrunch50, is specifically designed to provide an internal microblogging tool for businesses.

With email becoming an increasing burden on people’s time, microblogging offers a compelling business communication solution. “Web 2.0 evangelists… say it can facilitate an open-ended corporate culture that values transparency, collaboration and innovation,” says Forbes.com. “Most important, it can be an effective way to build a customer-centric organisation that not only communicates authentically but also listens to customers and learns from that interaction.”

A tool such as Twitter is ideal for following news on a specific topic or for asking questions of your peers. Meanwhile, being able to update your status on the move benefits employees who need to keep in regular contact with one another: a single text can generate an update that is immediately fed to an entire group of co-workers. With the wealth of access points that microblogs offer - from Firefox add-ons to iPhone applications - it’s an elegant way to keep people connected, irrespective or time zones or technology.

The business-focused Yammer allows companies to host the software themselves but this is the exception, not the rule. Most microblogging services live in the cloud, with all the benefits - and problems - that entails. Twitter, for instance, has grown so rapidly that its servers frequently keel over, resulting in the familiar Fail Whale screen.

It’s also worth considering that microblogging is, essentially, an extremely accessible form of publishing and that your posts can appear in Google search results and across the web. It’s something that this Twitter user resolutely failed to remember, with the result that it cost him his job. There’s also the risk that, if not managed correctly, microblogging serves only to add to your digital clutter - not reduce it.

For many of us, microblogs still have the novelty value of the latest web-based cultural phenomenon. But, like email, tools such as Twitter are destined to become a central part of our working lives. Even if you do use them to update colleagues on your lunch plans.

Tips to start a Real Estate blog?

Today, it seems like everybody and their dog has a blog of some sort. So, you think, what can a real estate blog do for me and my business? The answer is: a lot, if you are willing to put in the time and effort to make it so.

A good blog is, as far as the search engines go, an ever-changing webpage that constantly offers content. This is a great place to be, from a search-engine-optimization (SEO) point of view. A website that is constantly offering new content is a good thing as far as Google is concerned. If you're offering up-to-date, relevant info about your areas of operation, that's gold as far as both Google and your readership are concerned. People are always looking for relevant information about their chosen home neighborhood and what's happening.

A blog that is merely a series of home listings isn't going to attract much attention. While you can certainly showcase homes you have to sell, try to make them interesting to more people than those who want a 4 bedroom rancher with 2 bathrooms and a charming expanse of front lawn. Perhaps you can talk about this listing's neighborhood, the history of ranch homes or interesting things people do with bedrooms that are no longer required for guests and family members. Use your blog to capture the interest of people in general, rather than repeat something that is already amply represented elsewhere on your site.

Other topics you can focus on are local housing prices, the economy and how it is affecting home buying and selling in your area, events in your area, tax information/issues, tips for general home buying/selling... the list goes on and there's plenty of ideas you can get off of the internet. Make it relevant to the times, make it apply to people interested in your area, make it apply to real estate and you will have a good base for a blog. Occasional forays into seasonal-appropriate topics or local news provides some interesting diversions.

This is a project for the real estate businessperson who likes to write or has someone who can write for them. It is not worth starting a blog if you're just going to parrot someone else's words, even if they lie in the public domain. It's already been done before; enough that Google does not reward it with rankings. It also is boring for any human visitor who comes to your site looking for information your competitors haven't already given them. If you're just copy/pasting information they've seen before, you're not likely to appear to advantage. Be original.

Spelling and grammar still say a lot about you. Use spell check and grammar checks. Read through your blog posts to ensure that they make sense to other people. Get someone to read them over for you if you lack the skills to do so yourself. The purpose of spelling and grammar is to clearly convey your thoughts on the subject at hand; it is the mark of a careful and conscientious person.

A blog can be a great way of getting yourself and your real estate business out into the local eye. If people are coming to see what you have to say from day to day, they may start viewing you less as just another Realtor and more as someone they can rely on for good information and advice in your area of expertise. That in itself may earn you clients; for the rest, it may open doors to potential clients that have hitherto been closed to you.

How to become a SEO Official

There's no official certification or accreditation because there are no official standards in the SEO field. However, there are a couple of organizations that require members to adhere to what they consider to be ethical practices, so being listed by them is seen by many as a strong indicator of professionalism. We know that as a general rule of thumb, as long as you get high rankings without tricking the search engines, you can pretty much say you're an SEO if you want. But its becoming more evident that at some point, the industry is bound to become important enough for regulation, either self imposed or externally.

Although there is no certification to become a professional search engine optimizer, how do you become an official SEO? If you truly dig deep for an answer, search engine optimization is not much different than any established profession. Whether it be doctors, engineers, lawyers or plumbers there was a time when there was no formal certification available and then came some institution proposing to certify them for their skills. Who knows, perhaps there will be a university that comes up with a Bachelor of Search Marketing and once the first graduates hit the job market, there will be a scramble to get that qualification. The point here is that in today’s web savvy world search engine optimization is a necessity for any business. This is because every business today needs the internet to keep up with consumer demands and its rival competitors. In order to get the most exposure over your competitors businesses must rank higher in search engine, and at last the need for SEO is born.

Look at the history of SEO. At first, hardly anyone even knew that you could optimize for search engines, except possibly some spammers. Then, almost overnight, everyone suddenly discovered SEO, and many people became overnight "SEO"s. Lots of software, How-to books/sites, and forums have come out. The result is that nearly everyone is an SEO now. Many website designers and web hosts have just "tacked it on" to their current offerings.

We cannot deny that it’s a required skill for almost anyone dealing with the internet. In order to make a good living, today’s web hosts will have to learn the basics of SEO as well as how to avoid unethical practices. Software will also start coming out that is SEO aware providing database driven site software that has friendly URLS as standard, and keyword density checkers in addition to word count tools and spell checkers. The basic SEO is taught as a standard part of web design and copywriting courses.

At that point, will we need certification? No one can know for sure but internet consumers already want to make sure that they really are dealing with a professional. So one can only conclude that companies will hopefully begin hiring people with SEO experience and will begin to ask for some sort of certification. It's the same with almost any industry. If the experience is great then that's what executives hire on, but certification makes the human resources department comfortable so most people starting out need some sort of degree.

The moral of the story is that while it doesn't require a degree right now to perform regular SEO functions, it may one day soon for those who haven't already been doing it for years and are looking for a position in the Corporate World. The issue today is that there are simply not enough courses one could take at college. To make matters worse there is not enough students taking interest in these courses due to the stigma associated with the profession that it's a dead end career choice because of all of the offshore outsourcing. For now the people making a living doing it can only come to peace with the fact that just by simply working and surviving honorably in the profession is enough to call themselves an official SEO.

How To Get More Free Promotion For Your Blogger Blog

Did you know that Blogger is actually limiting your ability to get visitors to your blog?

That's right. Although it's free and provides a great service, there is one thing that Blogger could do for you to make it even better. But, as they don't do that, you're about to learn how to do it yourself.

Buried deep within the Blogger settings is an option called "Notify Weblogs.com", which is described as "Weblogs.com is a blog update notification service that many individuals and services use to track blog changes."

(Note: this update notification service normally called "pinging" - Blogger "pings" Weblogs.com with the update to your site).

This is one way your blog is promoted each time you create a new post - Weblogs.com lists your post's title, the time it was updated, and a link back to your blog. In return, there is a chance that the search engines find that link and then find your blog. Once they find your blog, they'll start to index all the pages and list them somewhere in the search engines.

Notice I said "there is a chance...". Go visit Weblogs.com and take a look at the time that the first post was submitted, and the time of the last one was submitted. If you're lucky, there are about 5 minutes between the two of them.

Which means you're post will be listed for 5 minutes, and then it'll drop off the bottom of the list.

That's not long for the search engines to find your link, is it?

So how can you improve the odds?

Simple - submit to more sites like Weblogs.com. There are dozens (at the time I write this, about 50-60) well-known sites like Weblogs.com that list blog entries submitted to them.

50-60. And yet Blogger only submits to one of them.

So how can you submit your blog URL to the other 50-69 sites?

Simple. Each time you update your blog, visit http://www.pingoat.com or http://www.pingomatic.com, and enter the name and URL of your blog in the form. Then select the sites that you want to be informed of your update. Pingoat and Pingomatic will then contact those sites on your behalf (and for free) to let them know about your updates.

That's it.

Start doing that on a regular basis, and you'll start to see more traffic to your blog.

How to Find The Right Blog Template

A blog template is the format in which the blog will appear and how it can be used. If you are designing your website and want to include a blog, you will want to choose something that will serve your needs and not just look good on the page. You first need to decide the use your blog will serve.

Will you use the blog to communicate with customers? Will you use it more of a log to track your thoughts and new ideas? Regardless of what you use it for, you will want to find a blog template that suits your needs.

Finding this blog template is not going to be hard. More then likely you will find so many that you won't know which to choose. In order to find a blog template that's right for you, find a website that has them and browse. There is no better way to find what you want then to see one working. How is it set up? Do you like the initial appearance? Do you like how it works? Is it easy to use?

When you have found something you like and know what your looking for, take a tour of the many sites that offer blogs and different templates. You can often find several for free on most sites. Take your time to find the blogger that offers the best solution to satisfy your needs and wants. Doing all of these things can lead to the perfect blog for your website.

Free Blogging Softwares - Review

With the increased interest in Blogging (web Logging), many web hosting providers now provide an assortment of free usage, open source blogging software packages. Among the most popular of these blogging tools are B2evolution, WordPress and Nucleus. Each of these programs offer similar basic features, so the question arises as to which one is easiest to use and would be appropriate for the requirements of your particular website.

The answer lies in the true purpose of your blog website. If your primary goal is to share your opinions and ideas with the general public, you would want to utilize a different blogging tool than a user who was creating product blogs as a commercial sales effort. A blog for search engine promotion would have entirely different requirements. All of these uses are viable reasons to create a blog, however each requires different features to be successful.

WordPress Blogging Software

Available for free download at: http://wordpress.org/

It is hard to beat WordPress for general personal blogging. WordPress is an open source, state-of-the-art personal publishing platform with a focus on presentation and usability. Everything related to creating and updating your blog is available through an intuitive graphical interface. With WordPress there is no need to compile your work. You simply write your column. You then select the features you want and your blog is instantly created and published to your website.

If you are on vacation, you can schedule your uploads for some date in the future or even email your column to the server! The system allows multiple users with multiple blogs divided into categories and sub-categories. This allows multiple family members or friends to create their own blogs along with yours.

Easy customization and the availability of many "plug-ins" that provide more functionality (add new features as you learn) makes this software a very good choice for most individuals.

B2evolution

Available for free download at: http://b2evolution.net/

B2evolution is another advanced web log tool that features an integrated XHTML validator. It supports recursive subcategories, cross posting and has a really cool integrated "skinning" system.

The "skinning" system allows you to create multiple blogs in separate categories with different appearances for each blog. You simply "change the skin" for the blog to create a totally new look and feel.

The "skinning" feature, combined with the built in multi-user administration management tool, makes the system robust enough for more commercial endeavors, such as product promotion blogs. If you have much to publish with multiple themes, this is the software you are looking for.

Nucleus Blogging Software

Available for free download at: http://nucleuscms.org/

Though Nucleus is an extremely robust blogging tool in its own right, it also contains some powerful features that can provide benefits in promotion of your blog.

Nucleus offers the ability to optimize its URLS, creating simple page addresses that do not have and "&" or "=" characters. This makes the pages search engine (and user) friendly. Another great feature is the ability to show the contents of multiple weblogs on one page. This could allow a
website owner to manipulate the optimum text / keyword balance on pages for better search engine rankings.

Nucleus also provides RSS and Atom feeds that can be extremely helpful when promoting a website. If part of your blog's function is to work as a search engine marketing and promotion tool, Nucleus is an exceptional software package.

Each of these blogging software packages offer the basic tools that you would need to create a successful blog and all three are PHP - MySQL open source (free to use) packages. You should try to select the software that helps you achieve the long term goal that you have in mind for your website based on the unique extra features offered by each.

Get Website Visitors From Blogs

Blogs are becoming more and more popular.
The word "blog" is short for web log.
And blogs are a great way of getting links
in to your website.

For instance, if you have a website about Internet marketing,
you could search Google for "Internet Marketing Blogs"

In the listing that comes up I'm sure that you'll find some
blogs that you can post a comment to.
There are blogs that have page rank of 5 or even 7.
So a link from one of these blogs could mean a lot when it
comes to search engine rankings.

Find one blog that are relevant to your site,
and post a comment that make sense to the original
posting on the blog.
Make sure that you link back to your site with the keywords
that you are targeting.

That way your comment won't get deleted, and you have a link
from a high page rank site.

You should also consider to start your own blog.
Blogs seem to get spidered a lot faster than a normal website.
And it's easier to get good search engine rankings for the keywords that you are targeting.

I use the blog solution from Google.
It is easy to use and gets you started fast.
It can be hosted on the Blogger server or on your own website.
Sign up and start your blog at: www.blogger.com

You can use the blog like a journal and add posts
about your daily updates to your website.
Your blog should have the same theme as your website.
That way you are targeting the visitors to your blog and can
direct them to your website by linking back to your homepage
in each posting.

Fresh content gets your blog spidered often.
So try to add a couple of post each week.
That way your blog will soon become a content site.
It will contain a lot of keywords that could bring you targeted traffic from the search engines.
There are also a lot of blog directories where you can add
your blog for free.
One good example is http://www.blogarama.com/

My blog is ranked higher than my website,
even though I have hundreds of back links to my site,
where I use my targeted keywords in the linking text.
That only shows how powerful a blog can become
for your business.

Strategies For Successful Blogging

What makes some blogs more successful than others? Here are seven strategies that will contribute to every blog's success.

What's Your Niche?

When people start to blog, they often have little idea what they're going to say today and less idea what they'll be talking about in five years' time. That doesn't matter much at the beginning, but if you're going to stick to blogging, you need to find something you enjoy writing about and can stay current on. Something that's a big part of your life will make a good blogging niche. For me, that's writing; for you, it could be something else.

Keep Your Focus

Once you've found your niche, stick to it, most of the time at least. When your readers get used to the content you provide, your readership will dip if you go off-topic for too long. You need to find a way to make your content relevant to your readers. Sometimes all you need to do that is a good title. Choosing a title that relates to the theme of your blog or post will help readers realize what your topic is and how this post relates to it.

Read Or Dead?

If you want people to read your blog, you've got to give them something to read - and you've got to make it regular. For some people, this means posting at least once or several times a day. For others, it means posting a couple of times a week. If you're a WAHM or part-time blogger, you may not have a lot of time to sit down and think of posts, let alone write them. But as long as there's activity on the blog, there'll be people reading it. Stay away too long and people are likely to abandon your blog for one that's got fresh content. Since people have lives that are offline (as well as online) getting a guest blogger is a good way to make sure your blog is updated if you have to be away. And with some blogging platforms like Wordpress, you can submit blog posts by email.

Tell The World

Sitting around waiting for people to find your content can take a long time. Instead, take the content to them with headline animators from Feedburner, email alerts from Feedblitz, RSS feeds from whoever you choose. Submit your blog to directories and try to think of a description that will make people want to visit. This is especially important if your blog is just one of many in a crowded field. What is the unique selling point of your blog? What makes it stand out from the rest? That's what you need to put in the description. Use pinging services like Pingoat to let people know you've updated your content. Also use the social bookmarking services to take your blog posts to a wider audience.

Read All About It

Read other people's blogs, not just on your own blogging plarform, but everywhere. This will let you know what people are thinking and talking about and may give you inspiration for blog posts of your own. This article was inspired by a post on Problogger, for example.

Making some money with a blog

1. Maintaining Momentum

According to Technorati’s research, one blog is created every second and that’s 86,400 per day or 31,536,000 per year. That is a huge figure considering that almost half of the planet earthlings are not connected to the internet.

The blogosphere continues to double about every 5.5 months and about 13% of all blogs are updated at least weekly. The main issue is how long does a blogger blogs before giving up? A week? One month? According to Technorati, half of the new blogs become redundant after just three months.

There is a name for these blog - they’re often called splogs or blog junks. Most bloggers started out with a good intention, always with a big picture in their mind. The secret path to success is the ability to continuing blogging consistently. It doesn’t matter if no one drop any comments or someone uses harsh words banging you, the ability to maintain the momentum and chunk out interesting articles is the key to success. Most blogs takes an average of 6 months to built up the much needed momentum to leap frog one to the other stage.

2. Topics

Choosing the right topic is like choosing the right partner, if you choose the wrong topic, especially the one that you’ve got no interest in, chances are you’ll soon end up in a crossroad. I’ve come across bloggers that create blogs that target high paying keywords.

The best topic would be something of your interest, be it music or art that has a niche market in the digital world. If you’re passionate about the topic you are blogging, chances are you will never run out of ideas, remember - maintain the momentum is the key to success.

3. Blogging Platform

There are a few blogging platform to choose from, the current market leaders are Blogger, Wordpress and MoveableType. I would say that these three platform has the lion share in the blogging world. All have their plus and minus points.

Depending on your budget, if you’ve got the money and the desire to blog, then by all means get a paid hosting and host your own blog. The plus point in having your own domain name and hosting server is the ability to get a better ranking in Google Search Engine. Most search engine tend to shy away from free hosting server, even Google rank blogs from their own Blogger.com below others that has their own unique names.

If you are not sure about getting your own paid hosting plans, I would recommend you to try out this reliable hosting company 3iX, its a Singapore based hosting company and you get a 14 day trial. Unlike GoDaddy, you don’t need to be a rocket scientist to install Wordpress, 3iX offers everything with a single click, yup, you can install wordpress with a single click.

4. Diversity of opportunities

Diversifing is the key to success, bloggers that seek a steady flow of income should have multiple blogs that spread accross different server and topics so as not to put all their eggs in one basket. Multiple blogs doesn’t mean one has to stick to a single contextual advertising company, recent years have withness the addition of a variety of viable advertising options for bloggers. Unlike the yer before 2005, adsense and blogads and a handfull of other are the only option available.

Making Money from your traffic

The best and most proven method of making a profit out of your traffic is using advertising. The Internet generates hundreds of thousands upon hundred of thousands of traffic everyday. Most of them are searching for something. While some are just looking for information there is also a good percentage that is looking for something that they need.

The Internet has proven to be a very reliable source in finding what was deemed to be a very unsearchable product. The Internet has made the world a smaller place; you can advertise a product from the depths of Istanbul and still find a buyer from the center of Philadelphia.

Generating traffic is not an easy task. You have to contend with a great number of sites to generate a good number of traffic flow. But if done successfully this could open up a Pandora’s Box of possibilities. One of the benefits is monetizing your traffic flow.

So, to get to the core of it the more traffic you generate the more likely you are considered as a desirable, desirable, in a sense that a good traffic flowing site is easily convertible to profit. Basically traffic equals profit. Advertising is the name of the game; with the good advertising scheme you can use your traffic flow to your advantage.

When you have good traffic you have a good number of potential customers, customers that are willing to pour money into your coffers. Other than that these are also traffic that can be redirected to sponsored links that are willing to pay you for a sizeable portion of the traffic that you have generated.

This scheme is called “pay-per-click”. With every click a visitor of your site makes on an advertised link you will be paid. The more traffic you generate and the more clicks that happens would spell to more profits.
Affiliate Programs

Another method of monetizing your traffic are affiliate programs. You can link up with other tried and tested sites and online companies and monetize your traffic by having a percentage of sales generated by traffic coming from your site.

The basic idea is, traffic generated from your site will go to another site that can offer a product that you do not carry. Many programs can keep track and make records of transactions that was made possible because of site linkage.

When purchases are made by customers that was led by your site to their site you get a percentage of that sale. Affiliate programs would give you the benefit of monetizing your traffic without the actual need of carrying or promoting a certain product.

Tips for Writing a Successful Blog Post

There are a lot of articles out there that contain great points and insight. Unfortunately, many of them are ruined and never become successful because of grammar mistakes, the message not being conveyed clearly enough, or other such problems. Sometimes the article would require a mere five minutes to touch it up and make it nearly perfect, or sometimes it would simply not be ready for publishing yet. Either way, you don’t want to waste a great post idea on an article that no one will ever read or appreciate. If you implement the following tips hopefully you will see a great improvement in your writing and your site’s content from the first word to the last.

1. Come up with an eye-catching title.

It’s a proven fact that titles that are easy to read, enthusiastic, and even those that contain numbers do better than those that don’t. The title of your article should make the reader excited and should make them want to sit and read each word you’ve got to say. Which title is better: “10 Tips to Self Satisfaction and a Happier Life” or “Advice for Being More Happy”? The first one, of course! If your title is bland, how do you expect visitors to continue on to the actual content?

2. Make sure your post is easy to read.

Sometimes it’s all about the visuals. Most of the time online readers like to scan articles instead of spending two hours on them. Create titles within your post and highlight them with bold html. If your post can be written as a list instead, scrap the paragraphs and use numbers. The quicker and easier your article is to read, the better.

3. Reread your article and check for all errors.

No matter how great of a writer you are, you’re always going to mess up sometimes. Spelling mistakes, grammatical errors, and botched up sentences will sometimes just slip through. If you aren’t good at recognizing mistakes at a first glance, try saving your article and reading it again in fifteen minutes or half an hour after it’s not totally fresh in your mind anymore. If you like, think about asking a friend to check over your article for you to find errors and offer advice.

4. Reread your post again and check to see if the message is clear.

If you go on and on about random things, or switch back and forth between multiple topics, or just didn’t get out the words the way you should have, then readers might not be able to grasp the message you’re trying to convey. Not all articles can be perfect the first time they’re written. If you have to, do some rewording here and there. If the post is a wreck but you think it’s worth saving, even consider trying to rewrite it. Don’t waste a great topic by publishing it within a horrible post no one will take the time to read!

5. Make sure all names, references, and URLs have been entered correctly.

If you’re writing another blogger’s name or linking to their site, it’s very important to make sure you haven’t spelled or typed in anything wrong. Most people won’t get offended by it, but it’s an embarrassing mistake to make. Also go through your post again and check all of your links and that there are no errors in either the URL or the anchor text.

6. Include the right mixture of internal linking.

It’s important to implement internal linking. You give exposure to posts you’ve written in the past, drive traffic to them, and share the link love with your other articles. Internal linking is especially helpful to provide fresh information for your readers or to refer them to another page for detailed information on any topic.

7. Add an image to your post.

This is something I often struggle with because usually I can’t think of any good images that would work in articles. But if you have the time or if you have an idea for an image to add to your post, then don’t hesitate. Images are interesting and catch the eye. Just make sure it’s the right size, doesn’t mess up your layout, and that the background and overall image blend in nicely. Also make sure you have the right URL and tags keyed in for your image.

8. Understand that spell check is your best friend.

Even though you’ve manually checked for errors earlier, including spelling errors, there’s always a possibility you could have missed something or didn’t even know something you spelled was incorrect. Don’t worry, it happens to the best of us! That’s why the spell check was invented. If you use Firefox you have a built-in spell check, and if you use the Wordpress platform there is one. If you’re writing your articles using a program such as Word, then you’ll have a spell check there too. Almost everywhere has spell check!

9. Get your post where it’s supposed to be at the right time.

Tag your post properly and make sure it’s placed in the correct categories so it can easily be located on your blog. Then make sure you are publishing your post at an appropriate time. If you’re using the Wordpress platform, understand that timestamp, just like spell check, is your best friend. Publish your post on the day of the week that it will receive the best exposure, according to your site’s statistics.

10. Make sure your article is seen by everyone!

You’ve obviously worked extremely hard on producing a very well-written and thought up article, so of course everyone needs to know about it. Email other bloggers who you think might be interested in your post, and leave comments on articles relevant to what you’ve written, linking back to your post. Stumble it with StumbleUpon and have it dugg on Digg. Get it out into the blogosphere and into all the social media sites. Good luck, and happy blogging! If you like, please share your own tips in the comments section below for writing a successful post.

Tips & Tricks for Successful Webblog Writing

So you want people to read your web content, you have to make it appeal to them. Here’s how to do it;

First, pick a great title - or a good one. A good title is one that tells the reader what your article or post is about. You can use humor or you can play it straight, as long as you inform the reader. Titles with number in them tend to do well. A good title, like a good article, answers the ‘what’s in it for me’ question for readers.

Next, talk to your readers as if they’re sitting in the same room. Use the word ‘you’ liberally, as you were if you were talking to someone. Good web writing is like having a conversation with the person who is reading it. Your writing voice will be a bit like your speaking voice - let your personality show.

Write short, clear sentences. Make it easy for people to understand what you’re talking about. The web audience is international, and not everyone speaks English as a first language. So when you write, avoid jargon and obscure language and provide examples to illustrate your points.

Summarize. Use bulleted lists to help people understand the essentials of your topic. It’s the old rule: tell them, then tell them what you’ve told them.

Here’s a recap. Four ways to write a good web article are to:

* Pick a good title.
* Address your readers directly.
* Keep sentences short and clear.
* Provide a summary.

Submitting Articles to Increase Blog Traffic

Why is it needed ?

You might have read so many articles stating “content is king”.yes it is.But it is not the only factor for you to top blogging. It is one of the factors. There are so many factors other than a superb article – one of them is LINKS .Just google for one of your favourite topic and see how many irrelevant articles are there .Why are they present?Because although the owners of those sites might not be great article-writers,they are all good SEO-ers.Or atleast they have the idea of hiring an seo specialist. How did they get that google SERP position? It was only because of proper links !And the best way to get links is article submission [ actually writing viral posts is the most important thing but a very very difficult one ].

How should i use it to build backlinks ?

Every article submission site will allow you to include your backlinks.Just because it allows you to , do not spam the article.Use the following guidelines :

1.Link the article with your blog homepage with a proper anchor text [ think atleast for 30 seconds before you use a anchor text ].

2.If there is any article in your blog related to your submitted article , link back to the blog post.

3.Always remember the KEYWORD PHRASE that you used to link earlier. It is best to write the keyword phrases that you used to link to your blog home page or your blog post .

4.Never use the keyword phrases again and again. If you do that , you are sure to get banned.I have no doubts about it.Never ever think of doing them.

5.ARTICLE SUBMISSION SITES I PERSONALLY USE :

Top 10 Tips for Bloggers

Tips for creating a blog.

There are no hard and fast rules on how to blog. Having said that, bloggers will likely increase their exposure by following some simple blog guidelines.

1.) Stay on topic.

Opinions are generally accepted but the content of the items in the blog should all relate to a general theme. Unless you have an uncanny knack for wit, humor or cynicism, the majority of your readers will be interested in the content that relates to a specific defined theme or loosely defined area of interest. Most readers won't care that you eat Cheerios for breakfast. They may, however, be interested in the fact that vinegar takes out stains and that toilet paper rolls make great wreaths. Define a topic and stick to it. This will ensure that you create a loyal following of interested readers.

2.) Stay informative.

If you are attempting to create the impression that you are knowledgeable about a specific industry or sector, be sure that you stay current on news. If you are endorsing a product or voicing an opinion, be sure to check your facts; your reputation is at stake. If you are offering an opinion, be sure to qualify your post, making it clear that the content is intended as an editorial.

3.) Old news is not news.

While blogging every day can be a drain, it is important that the information presented is current and accurate, writing an article or blurb about something that happened 6 months ago, will not be of interest to many. Telling your audience that Martha Stewart was convicted and will be going to prison, after her sentence is completed will make people question the value of your columns.

4.) Adhere to a schedule.

Create a schedule and stick to it. Realizing that blogging requires time and effort, don't create unrealistic expectations and be unable to deliver. An occasional lapse or holiday is generally understood but readers returning to find stale, out-dated content are going to find another blog with similar content. New blogs and RSS feeds are popping up on a daily basis. If you have worked hard to develop an audience and a community you don't want to lose them due to lack of communication.

5.) Clarity and simplicity.

Keep your posts and blog entries clear and easy to understand. Remember, the web is global and expressions, idioms and acronyms don't always translate. Sometimes a little explanation goes a long way.

6.) Keyword-rich.

If the goal of your blog is to increase your visibility, include related keywords in the title of the blog. Use the title as a headline to attract interest. Each item post should have a title that will attract attention but still be relevant to the post. The title should be no longer than 10-12 words.

7.) Quantity matters.

In order to attract the attention of search engines, you will need to develop content and substance. A headline or simple sentence is not going to generate the interest of readers or help with search engine ranking. Be sure to archive old blog posts to develop a large portal of similarly-themed content.

8.) Frequency.

If your blog content is updated frequently, search engines will tend to spider the pages at regular intervals.

9.) Spell checking and proof-reading.

It only takes a few extra moments and can save you from having to make embarrassing explanations. Remember that whatever you publish on the Internet can be found and archived. Think carefully about what you post before doing so.

10.) RSS.

RSS will increase your blog's reach. It is important that you include your blog's content in an RSS feed to increase readership and distribution.

Most weblog audiences are small, but with time and regular updates audiences grow. Bloggers may never have more than a few hundred readers, but the people who return to regularly are generally interested in what you have to say.
